I'd hold off saying that tell we see how the new skills effect the meta-game. Maybe defensive warriors > axe spikers...but I'm not betting on it one way or the other.

From release until late last summer you were able to craft a non max damage sword that had +5 energy built in to it. Any one could use the sword and benefit from the energy gain. For whatever reason these swords were removed frm that crafter. Prices for these sword reached outrageous amounts, 500K or so. Now that it seems likely that new weapons with +5 energy additions, and max damage with other mods possibly will become availablr again, the old HoD sword is effectively useless.

In the last 3 weeks I sold 2 HoD swords, 1 I had from the start, but hardly used, and 1 I found of a friends account who gave it to me after 7 months of inactivity. Sold em cheaply though, cause I hate to stay in LA 1 for more then 2 mins. Both for 100k and 10 ecto each.

The energy bonus may be part of this.

It's important to underline that HoD is popular due to 55 builds, and the necessity to have a -50 cesta in the left hand. For other builds, +energy swords are not as good as they seem. Perfect energy sword + focus is the best option by a small margin (+2 energy). However you lose the customization of your staff wrappings (e.g: +1 in a custom magic line). If base staff energy is buffed to 12 or more, the difference is pretty marginal. Personally I think staves should be much better due to the cost and rarity of perfect upgrades, and their lack of flexibility (you can change your focus and keep the same sword/wand on the fly, but you can't do that with a staff upgrades).
Typical combo sword+focus (with enchanting):
- 20% fast cast (focus)
- 20% recharge (focus)
- 17 energy (sword+focus)
- 20% enchanting, 5 armor or 30 hp (wrappings) (sword)
Typical enchanting staff:
- 20% fast cast (base staff)
- 20% recharge (base staff)
- 15 energy (base staff + perfect insightful head)
- 20% enchanting, 5 armor or 30 hp (wrappings)
For most standard builds, would an energy mod plus a perfect defense/fortitude mod be good enough to lose a 20% fast cast/recharge? In brief, it's the same choice as staff or wand/focus, but shifted by small 5% of your energy.
Typical combo wand+focus:
- 20%x20% fast cast (wand+focus)
- 20% recharge (focus)
- 12 energy (focus)

the 1-5^50% are for wands, this is for swords, and very likely other weapons. My guess is, they are both staying in the game, and are for seperate types of items.
However, they are supposedly upgrading the quality of most golds and purples, so...
Please post any other upgraded item any of you may find here, as I would like to see what is now out there.

HOD is overrated.
Green items are better buy and more useful.

GuildWiki Notes
* The borders of wards are now marked more distinctly.
* Scar Pattern Armor now affected by dye coloring differently (change in resulting color/shade).
* The book trick and bundle tactics seem to have lost their effectiveness in focusing enemy fire.
* Meika Ulrikar and Dalos Ekarus have settled in a small home by the farm where Miraba lives a short walk north of Lion's Arch. They offer no quests at the moment.
* Scroll foci have been renamed to Earth Scrolls.
* Upon entering an area, the area type is listed before the area name.
* Weapons can now drop with +5 energy as an inherant mod, in place of a damage-increasing mod.
* Pre-Streaming of about 60MB
* Completing a mission bonus will now display an arbitrarily large amount of experience and 8 skill points earned, in the chat box, but the actual amount earned is still 1,000 and 0 skill point

Lol! It's written as if it's a new feature in the game.
